Computers have evolved dramatically in the last couple of years. We have switched year to year for more technologically advanced chips. It seems like only yesterday that we were jumping around at our new AMD 1.2 GHZ processor and we were boasting those super powered 256 DDR. Well at that time it was more than enough for Starcraft or Counter Strike. Nowadays you see stronger processor mounted on usual phones.

The problem is that with so many components arriving as new to overthrow the old, there are several problems in terms of compatibility and system stability. The software side is having a difficult time keeping up with the supercharged advancements of the hardware side. Developers need to change drivers every couple of months considering that each time a new video board or a new processor is launched, the whole balance of the computer gets modified. That’s why each time you install a Windows copy or modify anything that might require serious OS modifications you will be faced with installing drivers. This can be a real pain since, considering that you’re lucky enough to have purchased a new product, you will most like have the driver DVD. This situation will go nice and smooth, except for one major problem: the drivers are outdated. This might not seem as a big issue, but with newer components, driver updates are crucial because each new component on the market tends to come with a series of bugged drivers that will eventually get fixed.

Windows Problems

On the other hand, if you’re unfortunate enough to be missing a driver DVD, then my friend you’re up for a couple of hours of searching the web for all kinds of drivers and related software. Still not even that is the worst case scenario because, at least you know your computer and you know what are the components involved. No, the worst case scenario is when a friend that has no idea what kind of computer he bought, asks you to come and reinstall his Windows. First of all, you have no idea what you’re dealing with since you don’t know the configuration. This will mean that you’ll have to bring some kind of diagnostic and information tool in order to find out the specifics: what kind of motherboard you’re dealing with, what kind of video board and so on. This can be done two ways: either you install a program such as Everest and let it scan (and waste about 10-30 minutes depending on the computer) and file a report so that you can know the configuration, or either you can simply start dismantling the computer in order to find out with what you’re dealing. And afterwards you can waste a couple of hours online searching for drivers with a model number and a manufacturer.

Driver Smith

Want to forget about all those problems all at once? Driver Smith has the answer to all these problems. The Driver Smith is a specialized software designed to find drivers. This incredibly complicated and delicate task can actually be performed by a program. I was skeptical at the beginning as well but it turned out that it did its job well.

People tend to believe that once the operating system has updated, their drivers have been updated as well. That is completely wrong since the operating system can only update itself. True, Windows 7 can also detect drivers that need updating but only a limited set. For example, from my entire configuration, the only drivers that are detected by the operating system are the ones belonging to the sound board. The video board, LAN, hard drive and peripherals are left for me to handle. That’s why a soft such as Driver Smith is quite handy to have.

Let’s check out how exactly the Driver Smith program works. Driver Smith will actually proceed and scan your computer much like one of the diagnosis programs such as Aida or Everest. Afterwards it will create a list and file a report (if you want it to) with all the components you have installed in your computer. Once detected, it will pass to faze two which means driver detection. Each component will be scanned with the help of the operating system and Driver Smith will determine which drivers need updating, or which components need driver installing (in case there are some that are missing drivers). Then it will proceed to faze three which is comparison. All the drivers that have been detected will pass through a comparison process which basically means that Driver Smith will take your computer piece by piece and compare the drivers installed to the ones it has in its database. In case your driver is older than the one Driver Smith has stored in its database, it will install the newest driver automatically into your computer. This way you won’t have to worry about a think.

Drivers Supported.

Since there are various types of drivers that come from different manufacturers, you need to pick the ones that suit your needs. Fortunately Driver Smith does that the best. Let’s check out some of the most important drivers, Driver Smith has in its database. It is equipped to deal with Bluetooth drivers, containing drivers from most manufactures and goes all the way to Bluetooth 2.1. It also has knowledge of chipset drivers, which means a lot of manufacturers and tons of various drivers. Even if Windows usually recognizes most of them, there are some DVD optical drives that might not be automatically recognized by Windows. Driver Smith comes to the rescue once again with drivers coming from the major optical drive manufacturers such as: Asus, LG or Samsung. For those that either use MacBooks, or simply have a FireWire connection on their laptop, Driver Smith comes with a series of drivers to for that as well (need to mention that Driver Smith is also Mac compatible). The same goes for monitor drivers. Despite the fact that most monitors are usually detected automatically by Windows, there may be some, especially those with DVI that tend to get “stubborn”. Those are by far the hardest situations to deal with because monitors that don’t have drivers detected, either don’t show up at all, or they run on whatever resolution they want. Once again Driver Smith steps in and straightens things out, although I must admit that I’ve never actually seen a monitor that goes blank just because Windows does not detect it. Motherboard drivers along with network adapters and sound cards usually tend to come at a package deal since most users tend to use the network card and sound card embedded in the motherboard. Of course there are also separated boards for each of the systems, but Driver Smith is equipped to deal with both. And finally, what I consider to be the most grueling of all tasks: drivers for video boards. These are the most pretentious and probably the most required of them all. If you desperately want to use a computer, you can do even without sound or LAN, but you won’t be able to do a thing if you don’t have video drivers. Fortunately Driver Smith has one of the widest driver database in the world, and most of them are video orientated, since there are so many kinds of video boards out there, that it’s hard to keep up.

Features

Ok we’ve seen what it can do properly, let’s see what Driver Smith is made of. As I’ve said before, Driver Smith will scan your entire computer and detect all the components inside. This feature is only possible because of the embedded tool knows as the Driver Scanning Engine. The one mounted on Driver Smith is considered to be one of the most advanced in the world. Since the have over 10 years in driver detection and scanning business, I tend to believe that they know what they’re doing.

Another feature that makes the Driver Smith program so awesome, is the Machine Intelligence. There are some of us that, instead of purchasing components to form a computer, would rather go at one of the large manufacturers and purchase a whole configuration. These special computers tend to have their own kind of personalized drivers. Fortunately Driver Smith has worked with major manufacturers such as IBM, HP, Dell, Asus and so on for a long time, and have the necessary drivers contained in the database.

We keep mentioning this driver database, but let’s see what’s actually with it. The Driver Smith Database is a compendium of drivers gathered in over 10 years of driver experience. It holds somewhere around 100.000 drivers from all major manufacturers, and it gets bigger from month to month. Since the number of hardware increases, so does the number of drivers and Driver Smith needs to keep up with the advancements.11 Buy Now!!
